Hugo received a BS in Biology from Benedictine University in 2008. He received an MS in Clinical Laboratory Science from Rush University in 2010. He received his PhD in Cancer Biology at Wake Forest School of Medicine Graduate School in 2018. 

Hugo is currently working in Dr. Boris Pasche’s lab as a Postdoc. The focus of his research is to elucidate the mechanism of action of a novel cancer therapy; Amplitude-Modulated Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields (AM RF EMF). Under the guidance of Dr. Pasche, he investigates the role of Calcium and Calcium channels in AM RF EMFs anti-proliferative effects on Hepatocellular Carcinoma and have recently published findings showing calcium is a key mediator of the anti-proliferative effects.
