Luxi Wang, PhD

Luxi obtained her Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) in 2012 from Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou China. She then moved to Belfast and received her PhD in 2017 from Queen’s University Belfast under the supervision of Prof Heping Xu, with a thesis titled “Metabolic control of microglial activation – the role of glucose transporter 1”. In 2018 she started her postdoctoral training with Dr. Reto Asmis at Wake Forest School of Medicine. The focus of her work with Dr. Asmis was the role of macrophage and monocytes in metabolic disorders and vascular diseases. Currently Luxi is working in Dr. Wei Zhang’s lab in the Cancer Biology Department. Her research is focused on the role of tumor-associated macrophage in Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
