Upcoming Events

CPM Collaborative Discussion (WebEx) Date/Time: Thursday, July 23rd, 10am – 11am

·         Kip Zimmerman 6th year graduate student in Carl Langefeld’s lab.  His dissertation focuses on the analysis of single-cell RNA-seq data.

Discussion Topic:  Simulating hierarchical single-cell RNA-seq data and estimating the power of mixed effects models to account for the hierarchical correlation structure. He will be introducing an R-package that he has created for estimating power and for simulating single-cell RNA-seq data. He is hoping the discussion will be centered around ways that he can improve the simulations as well as the functionality of the R-package.

·         Ellen Quillen, PhD (Assistant Professor, Molecular Medicine) Her research focuses on the multi-omic analyses of musculoskeletal tissues.

Discussion Topic: Circulating miRNAs associated with bone and muscle in aging baboons. She is looking for feedback on additional data that would strengthen R01 applications in preparation.
