Funding Opportunity: Yakult and Nature Research: The Global Grants for Gut Health Due Date: Sept 30, 2020

Info: Competitive program for investigator-initiated research into the human gut microbiota. Will consider proposals for research projects that advance understanding of the impact of the small intestine microbiome on human health. In all cases the focus should be on uncovering and understanding the mechanisms through which the microbiota exert an influence on human health.  Research projects should be one year in duration. Funding Opportunity: NHGRI – Defining Genomic Influence on Gene Network Regulation (U01 Clinical Trial not allowed) Due Date:  Nov 4, 2020

Info: (RFA-HG-20-044) Seeking applications for research project to explore the effects of genomic variation on phenotypes at the network level. Projects supported through this FOA will measure changes in the activity of genes and regulatory elements during biological transitions and use generalizable analytical approaches to understand network-level relationships among genomic variation, functional elements, genes, and phenotypes related to human health and disease. Wake Forest CTSI Translational Data Warehouse and Center for Biomedical Informatics team will provide a virtual training of the ACT Network Date/Time: Monday, August 24th, 12pm – 1pm

Info:  The ACT Network is a real-time, open-access platform allowing researchers to explore and validate feasibility for clinical studies using aggregated electronic health record data from over 125M patients nationwide. ACT is HIPPA-compliant and does not require study-specific IRB approval.  Training will demonstrate the functionality of the ACT Network and discuss its capabilities as it relates to our local data warehouse and i2b2. Examples of COVID-19 related inquiries will be reviewed.
