Due Dates: LOI Deadline (10/16/20)     Full Application Deadline – after invite (11/13/20) Info: Successful Pilots will receive up to $40,000 in direct costs. For questions contact Brittney Jackson ( britjack@wakehealth.edu ) **WFBMI is offering a $10,000 bonus for one of the pilot awards if the proposed project involves informatics researchers, techniques and methods. This bonus will be awarded to one pilot proposal evaluated as meritorious by CTSI Administrators and the IRSC and additional review by the leadership of the Wake Forest Center for Biomedical Informatics (the resulting pilot award will be in the amount of up to $50,000). Wake Forest Pepper Center Pilot RFA – Funding Opportunity in Geriatric Research Pilot and Exploratory Studies Research Program Funding Announcement/Pepper OAIC: “Integrating pathways affecting physical function for new approaches to disability treatment and prevention” Due Date:  LOI (Monday, Oct 5th by 5pm)           Full Application (Friday, Nov 6th by 5pm) Info: The WF Pepper Pilot Studies Program promotes promising new research ideas by providing funds for generation of preliminary data for the development of grant applications leading to external funding of behavioral, cognitive, genomic, metabolic, and other factors which contribute to age-related physical function decline, or progression to disability. A major goal is the development and testing in clinical or pre-clinical studies of novel interventions which target contributors to age-related decline in physical function in order to prevent or reverse the progression to disability. Wake Forest Center for Biomedical Informatics – Virtual Seminar (flyer attached) Date/Time: Wednesday, Sept 16th – 12pm – 1pm Presenter: Dr. Andrew King, Post-doc in Critical Care Informatics, University of Pittsburgh Dr. King’s dissertation on Learning Electronic Health Record (LEMR) systems won two of the American Medical Informatics Assoc. (AMIA) best student paper awards. He was recently awarded a one-year $200K innovation grant to develop a voice-based clinical decision support system in the intensive care unit (ICU). He received his BS in Bioinformatics and PhD in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh.
