Member Highlights
Meng-Yun Lin, PhD, MPH Assistant Professor, Social Sciences and Health Policy Dr. Meng-Yun Lin is a health services researcher/health economist and an assistant professor in the Department of Social Sciences and Health.Policy. Her research uses quasi-experimental designs and leverages complex, large-scale observational data (mostly health insurance claims) to identify causal relationships between treatment and outcomes. Much of her previous work has focused on minority health and disparities in access to and use of health care. She is also interested in health policy evaluations and has examined the effect of critical provisions of the Affordable Care Act, including Medicaid expansion and Accountable Care Organizations. Dr. Lin recently expanded her work in health disparities into the field of cancer. Built on her health economics background, she developed a project to conduct cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) of lung cancer screening with low-dose computed tomography using an analytic framework that incorporates equity concerns. This novel CEA can be applied to the economic evaluation of innovative treatment targeting conditions other than cancer, such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and other aging-related morbidities.
