New Pilot Grant from the North Carolina Diabetes Research Collaborative (NCDRC) for Dr. Hector Guillen (June 25, 2018)
Dr. Hector Guillen, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine - Molecular Medicine at the Center for Precision Medicine, was awarded a one-year $ 50,000 Pilot Grant for his collaborative application with Dr. Mark Herman, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Duke University School of Medicine and Dr. Paul Grimsrud, Senior Research Scientist, Duke Molecular Physiology Institute. The project entitled “Genomic Locus-Specific Proteomics to Define Carbohydrate-Regulated Gene Expression in Diabetes” will locus-specific protein-chromatin interactions and protein PTMs that may regulate a key nutrient sensing transcription factor, in an effort to elucidate novel molecular mechanisms important in the pathogenesis of T2D.
The North Carolina Diabetes Research Collaborative is a joint effort of Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill (UNC-CH), Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and North Carolina A&T State University to promote inter-institutional collaborations in diabetes research.
Dr. Hector Guillen awarded a Joint Pilot Grant from the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Center for Precision Medicine (June 7, 2018).
Dr. Hector Guillen, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine - Molecular Medicine at the Center for Precision Medicine, was awarded a one-year $ 50,000 Pilot Grant jointly awarded by the Center for Precision Medicine and the Wake Forest Baptist Health Comprehensive Cancer Center for his collaborative project with Dr. Peiqing Sun, Professor in the Department of Cancer Biology entitled “Identification of novel regulators of microRNAs expression in cancer”. The project will apply the HyCCAPP technology developed by Drs. Guillen and Olivier to better understand miRNA regulation related to oncogenic induced senescence.
