Letter from the Center Leadership:
The first year of the Center was very successful, and we have all of you to thank for that. Your participation, involvement and enthusiasm made all of this possible! Hopefully, this initial success is just the beginning, and we look forward to expanding our collaborations and interactions with all of you to further advance science and biomedical research here at Wake!
As we have mentioned before, the new year will bring a few changes that we want to alert you to as you set your schedules for the coming year:
1. The Center for Precision Medicine Seminar Series will move from its current time slot on Wednesdays to its new time: Thursdays at 10:00 am. This time does not seem to conflict with other activities on campus. You will receive calendar invites and e-mail reminders for these as the dates approach. With this switch, we have run into a small scheduling glitch, and have been unable (for the next 6 months) to maintain our alternating schedule between the Biotech Place downtown and the Medical Center. For some reason, the Biotech Auditorium is no longer available for our seminars, so we will use a variety of different rooms over the next few months to accommodate the seminars, and will provide online logins to follow the presentations remotely.
2. We will also change the time/schedule for our Center Coffee Breaks, starting in January. We will now offer coffee, cookies, baked goods and fruits from 9:30-10:00 am every Monday and Thursday (before the seminars). For the next few months, coffee break will take place in the CPM Conference Room (NRC, G-floor), but once we move some of the seminars back to the downtown campus, we will also hold a coffee break there prior to those seminars. Please join us on Mondays and Thursdays! This invitation is open to anyone, Center member, staff, faculty, or interested visitor…
3. Alternating with the Seminar Series, we have held our Collaborative Discussion meetings. We will continue to do so, and these Collaborative Discussion/Work-in-Progress Meetings will now also take place on Thursdays at 10:00 am, and for the coming months, they will be held in the CPM Conference Room (NRC, G-floor). You will receive updated information on these as it becomes available in the coming weeks.
We wish you and your families Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and all the best for the coming year 2019!
