Steve received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Brigham Young University in 2010. He received his PhD in Integrative Physiology and Pharmacology in 2018. Steve’s dissertation was titled “Glucago-like peptide cleavage product as a potential therapeutic to improve cognition in Down syndrome.” Steve has been working in Dr. Shannon Macauley’s lab since January 2019. During his work with Dr. Macauley he published a paper which showed the relationship between CSF Aβ and the metabolic profiles of type-2 diabetic vervet monkeys. He is also a co-PI on a pilot grant investigating the relationship between alcohol, brain metabolism, and amyloid-β. He is currently funded through the T32 alcohol training grant.
